4 Year Kinder Team

Christy

It was a calling I believe, that got me into teaching. As this destiny unfolded for me, during my early years of studies, I realised that I take pride and joy in imparting and facilitating knowledge every which way I can, as a person, and now as an educator. When I worked as a High School teacher in my home country, the Philippines for 10 years, all the more that it cemented the path for me as an educator. In 2011, I did further studies and explored the Early Years. Graduating from my second degree in 2015, I knew then that my role as an Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) would enable me to discover this younger age group and all the wonderful learning possibilities. I now have a child of my own and this has expanded my horizon as a teacher, carer and ‘mother’ to the children who I am blessed to care and educate each year. It is an undertaking that I will cherish and value because families have given me their trust to look after their most precious children. I strive to listen to each family’s priorities and perspectives relating to their child which will inform shared decision making about their child’s learning and development. My emergent program is inspired by the children’s interests and the experiences with their families. I focus my program on real life experiences to create a sense of belonging within the Kinder room. At the end of each teaching cycle, I hope I get to touch the lovely hearts of my students to be kind and determined and demonstrate these qualities in their next chapter at primary school.

Jo

I have been an educator at Samanthas Childcare – Camberwell for over 14 years and during this time I have worked and gained a variety of experience with the various age groups. My passion is for art and craft and encouraging each individual to extend their creativity through the vast assortment of techniques and textures that this subject offers. My philosophy is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework which supports and guides children in their sense of identity, community, wellbeing, learning and communication. By nurturing and guiding these qualities it gives children a positive and confident start to their school years and beyond.
